What do I do if I’m bitten by a Zombie?

Zombie behind metal gateThe answer to this question is highly dependent on what type of Zombie you are bitten by, because not all Zombie types can infect you. But for the purpose of this question and answer, let’s assume the worst case scenario.

First. May you rest in peace.

Secondly. Anyway you look at it, your life is about to change drastically and there is nothing you can do to stop that. Some individuals might reach for the nearest sharp object and attempt to remove the affected area as soon as possible, but that might not be such a good idea. Unfortunately, and contrary to popular belief, most individuals that attempt the emergency removal of a limb or body part will suffer from shock, a loss of blood and infection or disease before finally succumbing to death, and possibly reanimation as a newly minted Zombie – short a body part or two of course.

Other the other hand – or what might be left of it – there are other options out there for individuals that have been bitten or scratched by the infectious undead.

Go out in a blaze of glory. If you’ve always wanted to be a hero, now is your chance to make that dream come true. Sacrificing yourself for the greater good of those around you is one of the most noble ways to say goodbye in a world whose streets run red with the blood of other survivors and the Zombies that pursue them relentlessly. Whether you split off from the group in an attempt to draw attention away from those left that might make it out alive or you’re the last one up the stairs holding back as many undead as you can, you can earn a place in the anti-Zombie history books… as long as there’s someone left to write them.

Maybe amputation and martyrdom aren’t you’re thing and you’d rather spend your last days waiting for the change to take hold before moving on to a new life among the undead hordes at your door? If that’s the case, you’ve got a serious choice to make – Do you tell your fellow survivors about the potential infection or do you keep it to yourself?

Certain things are better left unknown in an apocalyptic situation like: What was that creature we just scraped off the road for dinner?, but when it comes to serious issues like revealing a possible Zombie infection, honesty is the best policy for your fellow survivors and friends. While revealing your potentially infected and infectious status as a bitten of scratched individual could lead you to a slightly early grave, if you care at all for your fellow survivors, it’s worth warning them about your condition.

We also recommend printing out an official Zombease Last Will and Testament Card to carry with you during the Zombie apocalypse, it gives written permission for those around you to end your existence should you be bitten by or turn into a Zombie. It’s hard enough to see someone you love turn into an undead monster, make it a little easier by letting them know you’re ready to move on.
