A Zombie apocalypse isn’t the opportunity you’ve been waiting for to tout your survival skills, show everyone just how great you are, and go out in a glorious blaze of hellfire (although you can do that). The reality is that a Zombie apocalypse will likely result in an overwhelming loss of Human life, and near complete deconstruction of society as we know it. A blow to Humanity of this magnitude could be fatal, and may not allow for recovery.
During a Zombie apocalypse, everyday will be a fight for your life. Food, water, and other vital resources will be scarce, if available at all. You will likely be forced to travel great distances with little or no supplies, and you will probably have to do this alone. With most communication systems down, there will be no one to talk to but yourself, and your entire history will almost certainly cease to exist the moment you pass from this life.
But, it can’t be all bad… can it?
Actually, no, it can’t be ALL bad. If you really think about it, you can imagine a Zombie apocalypse as a sort of “reset” button for the world. Rather than a completely devastating event, it can be seen as an opportunity to start anew, and to do a better job this time around. As a naturally curious and fairly adaptable species, Humans have the ability to make the most of a bad situation, especially during times of intense duress. Capable of looking beyond ourselves, we can plan, prepare, and rebuild for those of us yet to come.
So, although you may be fighting for your life, you’ll also be given the opportunity for a fresh start. There wont be any bills to pay, time-clocks to track you, birthdays to remember or anniversaries to forget. In fact, you can think of it as a whole new world of freedom…but then again, you will have to kill an occasional Zombie.
