With the world on fire and your former life a pile of ashes at your feet, who will you become?
During a Zombie outbreak or other major disaster, you have the opportunity to re-invent yourself and start anew… though it may be an uphill battle. Whether you were a sales person, factory worker, artist, office crony, doctor, dentist, or unemployed, life will become a “choose your own adventure” styled existence. It will be hard and you might not make it, but if you believe in yourself and give it your all, you’ve got a chance at more than surviving, you could actually be a hero.
Your life may have been dull, damning, and downright miserable… or maybe it was amazing and you’ll miss it dearly. Either way, it’s time to look forward, think about the now, and not just survive, but thrive.
You’ll need gear, guts, and good old fashioned knowledge and skills to make it through a major disaster like a Zombie outbreak or hurricane. You can start by learning and practicing the basics of survival, food/fire/and fight. And later move on to equipment and gear… the guts you’ll have to work out for yourself, but we can give you a heads up on the others.
FOOD: Obviously an important staple for survival, food can be acquired through a number of means. Whether you already have it on hand, scavenge it from various locations, or grow it for yourself; you’ll need an ample supply of food to keep you going for the long-term. (see: Food at the End of the World and Harmony House Dehydrated Food Review)
FIRE: The importance of fire for survival should never be understated. It can protect you from the elements, attackers, and animals. It can cook your food, light the way, purify your water, and raise your spirits. Always carry a fire-kit with you, no matter where you go and what you’re doing. Learn how to use it on all kinds of terrain in all kinds of weather with all kinds of supplies. (see: Utility Flame Fire Gel, Little Lighter Fire Starters DIY, Are Zombies Afraid of Fire, Insta-Fire Fire Starter, and Treating Burns)
FIGHT: Knowing how to defend yourself, and having the tools to do so is important for sustained survival after a large scale disaster or Zombie outbreak. (see: Anti-Zombie Weapons and Defense, Weapon Safety, Triple Threat Throwing Knives, Anti-Zombie Gloves, Rip-Stick Anti-Zombie Weapon, and Pummel Pipe DIY)
GEAR: In addition to basics like fire starting supplies and Anti-Zombie weapons, you’ll need a bit of other gear to really get you going and help with your survival. From a Bug Out Bag to Every Day Carry items, it’s more than just a few things here and there, but it also isn’t about grabbing whatever isn’t tied down. (see: Medical Kit, Headlamp or Handheld, Hack-knife , and Survival Blade DIY)
KNOWLEDGE: Don’t stop at simple things like “How to make fire” and “How to pack a bag”, go further and deeper into knowledge sources for survival. Learn everything you can from those that know what they’re talking about, practice it, and expand as best you can.
