TT-4 Tactical Flashlight Review:
Simply put, the TT-4 was built to last – just like the rest of the series. Even through the rough-and-tumble times of something as intense as a Zombie apocalypse.
Featuring tempered glass and an aircraft grade 6061 aluminum body, the TT-4 can take a beating and never let you down. In addition to an astounding level of brute strength and fortitude, the TT-4 features two well-placed o-rings that give it a waterproof rating of IPx-8. That means it’s usable in up to two feet of water for extended periods of time, making it the perfect light for use in wet weather or humid and swampy conditions.
Reaching an extremely bright 520 lumens, the single CREE XM-L U2 LED is an extremely efficient diode that is capable of reaching up to 50,000 hours of operation… that’s about 5 1/2 years of constant 24-hour use. A well-designed, multi-level, dual-button tail switch offers users a simple one-handed approach for cycling through all three lighting levels (4 lumens, 164 lumens, 520 lumens), variable frequency strobe – known as the Direct Disabling Strobe (DDS – 520 lumens), and momentary on/off for signaling and quick spot checks, all without looking or fumbling for the settings.
When set on high, the TT-4 lights up the dark with a level of force that is unbelievable at first. Forming a reliable and fairly well-rounded spot, we were able to see an effective difference in lighting up to 4 blocks away. The medium setting sees a drastic drop in lumens, coming in less than half those of the high setting. But, this doesn’t stop it from remaining highly-effective. At 164 lumens, the medium setting for the TT-4 is perfect for walking or night-time travel, and as a search light for both tactical and non-tactical situations. Shining deep into the dark and revealing mid-level details up to 25-30 feet, even the low-level lighting that the 4 lumen setting provides is more than enough to work your away around an abandoned building or Zombie infested area at night, without drawing too much attention to yourself.
Powered by a variety of batteries such as 2 x CR123, 2 x CR123A, and 1x 18650, the TT-4 has a versatile and sometimes rechargeable power solution… though, due to it’s extremely high-efficiency output, we doubt you’ll have to change the batteries very often.
The TT-4 weighs in at just over 4 oz. and measures just 5.2” x 1.04″, making it a low-profile and powerful light that’s perfect for any EDC kit, Bug Out Bag, or everyday use… no matter where you are or what you’re doing.
But just because you can carry the TT-4 in hand or clipped to a belt/pocket, doesn’t mean that you have to. The simple, yet well-made holster for the TT-4 boasts a MOLLE strip, D-ring, and belt-loop for placement and carry on just about any gear you’ve got. Straight out of the box, we experienced a bit of trouble with the the elasticized sides of the belt holster holding the light too tightly, making it difficult to set or remove the light, but after a few dry runs, they relaxed and fit like a glove.
All in all the TT-4 astounded us with the quality of it’s build, design, function, and feel. The only real drawbacks to the TT-4 are the semi-specialized battery types that it requires (though that is becoming less of an issue every day), and a belt-clip that’s a little tight at first. Other than that, there’s no reason not to grab a TT-4, or any other TerraLUX Tactical Light.. .even if you aren’t worried about a Zombie outbreak or apocalypse.
The TerraLUX TT-4 MSRP is $114.99, which isn’t bad for a flashlight of this caliber and quality. Grab one online today or find a local retailer using the TerraLUX retail locator here.

OMG
The holster picture caught my eye. Whippin’ that puppy out around a cop like that could get you shot! Especially if its light out, it will be lights out on you! But I freaking love it though. Careful how you whip it out boys.
Nice review! I’ve been addicted to my fenix flashlight for ages now. You make some really good arguements for Terralux. Will definitely have to look into them!
