I’m used to seeing micro-survival kits where individuals or companies claim to give you everything you need for survival in an impossibly small package. But what I’m not used to is seeing that claim come true.
The Adventure Bracelet by Wazoo Survival Gear is, what some might call, a top of the line piece of preparedness gear (though the price isn’t bad for what you get). Boasting a seemingly impossible variety of survival supplies, the Wazoo Adventure Bracelet is comprised of 16 different components, expertly woven a custom bracelet.
The 16 components that make up the meat and bones of the Wazoo Adventure Bracelet, provide survivors with everything from fire to direction, signaling, snares and much more. Each and every piece of the Wazoo Adventure Bracelet seems to have been carefully considered before including it in the final product, with zero room for waste. This is truly a waste not, want not bracelet, everything here can be directly applied to saving a life, whether it’s your own or otherwise.
COMPONENTS: One of the things that sets the Wazoo Adventure Bracelet apart from other such survival bands, is an obvious forethought of accessibility. While many components of the Wazoo Adventure Bracelet (see: fishing kit, survival straw and safety pins) are directly woven in to the body of the bracelet, some remain accessible even while the bracelet is being worn.
The lid of the compass, located at the apex of the bracelet, holds the glow-light which reaches a full charge in roughly 5-mins and lasts up to 12 hours at a time (dimming gradually throughout). The compass itself is housed in a thick-walled waterproof body, ensuring that even after taking a fall, it can help to guide you home, and even the 100db pea-less survival whistle can be used while the bracelet is being worn.
Once unbuckled users reveal access to 3 small ranger bands, two waterproof fire starters / antibiotic pain relief dressings, a small ceramic striker / razor blade, 5,500 degree fire-steel, retro-reflector for signaling at night, 2 mall zip-ties and a signal mirror that doubles as a fishing lure when needed… all that and there’s still more inside.
While the bulk of the supplies are accessible on the outside of the bracelet, some survivors may need to get at the core. Located deep within the belly of this beast is a full fishing kit – 30 feet of 50 lb. test braided Spectra line, 2 #8 fishing hooks, 2 #3 lead split-shot weights, 2 small brass safety pins -, a 5-inch plastic straw and roughly 1-1/2 feet of surgical tubing (this can actually be removed and rewoven into the bracelet with a small pair of pliers).
Then we get to the paracord itself. While the actual amount of paracord will vary slightly from one Adventure Bracelet to the next, we were able to unwind and access all 8 ft of ours in just under 3 minutes, accessing a variety of supplies as we went. Once unwound, the genuine 7-strand nylon paracord can be used for everything from constructing shelter, gear repair, medical applications, catching/collecting food, creating weapons and much more.
Did I forget to mention that this comes with an optional handcuff key for just a few dollars more?
IN CONCLUSION: Sure, the Wazoo Adventure Bracelet has a few redundancies. Why pack 30 feet of fishing line into a bracelet that’s made of more than 8 feet of paracord? The same could be said for the surgical tubing, zip-ties and even the ranger-bands. But the reality is that redundancy is an important part of proper preparedness. Backups to backups are a part of every day survival… after all, I’d rather have it and not need it than not have it and need it desperately.
